How many faces does an individual pot cover?

It is difficult to estimate exactly how much paint will be needed to cover one face as it can vary dramatically depending on the thickness of application and how much of the face you want to cover. A general rule of thumb is:

  • 1 x 18ml pot will cover between 50 and 100 full faces.
  • 1 x 30ml pot will cover between 80 and 160 full faces.
  • 1 x 75ml pot will cover between 200 and 400 full faces.

How many pots would I need to cover my entire body?

Due to differences in body shapes and sizes and also the thickness of the paint, it is difficult to calculate how much paint will be needed. On average 1 x 18ml pot will easily cover an adult of average size from head to toe.

Does Snazaroo Paint act as sunblock?

No, Snazaroo face paints will not offer sun protection. Using a sunblock underneath the paint is down to personal choice, but in some cases may make the paint difficult to apply. It is also undetermined how the face paint will affect the performance of the sunblock.

Can I use Snazaroo Paints in my hair?

Although they are designed for the face and body, Snazaroo paints can be used in the hair as they are water-based. As some colours are very highly-pigmented you may find that they may stain lighter hair. It is not advisable to apply dark colours to light hair.

Why is my face paint coming out streaky?

All Snazaroo Face Paints are water-based and only require a small amount of water to give good even coverage. Streaking usually occurs when too much water is added to your brush or sponge, so firstly try using a little less water. The best non-streak results and better coverage are achieved when using a high density make-up sponge.

My paint has gone very soft, what has caused this and how can I make it hard again?

This will probably have been caused by one of two issues:

  1. Too much water being added, leading to the paint becoming soft and lumpy.
  2. Storing the paint in conditions which are too hot.

To rectify these problems:

  1. Dry off your paints with a clean kitchen towel, which should absorb most of the moisture. Use a dabbing motion to reduce the amount of paint wasted.
  2. Store your paints in a cool room; this will usually re-set the paint. If you are working in a hot environment it may be worth investing in a small cool bag which can be used to store your materials.
