The perfect bristle shape to enable a perfect stippling technique ideal for foliage
Short handled
Pro Arte have collaborated with famous artist Stephen Coates who has designed his ‘Foliater’ brush. Produced with a unique semi-circular profile on the ferrule, this creates the perfect bristle shape to enable a perfect stippling technique, ideal for the creation of tree and leaf foliage. The brush is made from a mixture of natural hog hair allowing the brush to stipple the paper, and Racoon hair which allows the brush to hold a great amount of water. It really is a must-have for all discerning watercolour landscape artists!

Write a reviewI think that his brush should become more effective in my hands after further practice. However my present attempts at painting trees with the foliater are less effective than those achieved using dry brush work with synthetic round brushes.
I have purchased two sets of these brushes, one for myself and one for a 98 year old uncle and whilst we haven't had a lot of time to experiment with them, our initial attempts have been encouraging. The U -tube video is great for instructions for use and they really do make tree painting more realistic with practice.
I use this set frequently and as a beginner find the results encouraging. Well crafted and designed. In my painting I find they generate enthusiasm, because they help me achieve my intentions.
