Printmaking is an umbrella term that covers many processes used to create a printed artwork. Block Printing is one of the oldest printing methods; the technique originated in Asia, and was first done using wood blocks. Developments in materials mean that today’s artists are able to recreate the same technique, but using softer Lino sheets which are more easily and safely cut. Prints are made by transferring ink onto Wood, Lino or another surface and printing the resulting image, normally on paper. Each original print will have its own unique variations due to the intrinsic nature of the printing process.
