This Stifflex Artwork De Chirico Pastel Pad Dark Grey includes 16 sheets of 360gsm pastel paper in a dark grey shade. The pad measures 24 x 33cm and is spiral bound on one short edge. The paper has a very rough surface and each sheet is microperforated for easy removal. This surface is fantastic for pastel painting but can also be used with pens, graphite and coloured pencils.
Stifflex Pastel Paper is specially designed for use with pastel techniques. It has a very rough surface that allows you to build up layers of pigment easily. It offers the perfect surface for both loose, expressive strokes as well as more fine detail techniques. This paper withstands erasing, as well as wet techniques with water or alcohol without deterioration of the grain or surface.
This paper is acid-free and netural in pH to ensure stability of your artwork over time.

Good
may not be as dark grey as i thought but surface seems to work really well for accepting pastel pencil and smoothing with finger. allows fibre pen use too. would definitely buy again.

This is a repeat purchase. Excellent value sanded surface I have used for soft pastel. Doesn't take quite as many layers as some sanded surfaces but great texture and doesn't hurt your fingers if you blend. Spiral pad format with interleaving protective paper makes it handy for plein air painting. Shame it doesn't come in bigger formats

Found this very difficult to work with - which may be my technique of course - even a single layer of panpastel wasn't really sticking and attempting to add subsequent layers just rubbed the panpastel off. Similar results with stick pastel, and adding pencil over top was impossible, even Giocondas were rubbing off the underlayers.
Best results were with a gouache underpainting which then gave the pastel something more matte to adhere to.Did you find this review useful?
