The Conte white pencil is simply the best white pencil you can buy. Nothing comes close in terms of opacity and minimal dust. John Burton (Newcastle upon Tyne) on 13 Mar 2009
I have been using Conte Sanguine pencils for about five years, and they are among my favorite drawing media. The warm orange-red color connotes human flesh tones wonderfully. The pencils lays down a richly pigmented line or mass tone, according to whether the artist uses a well-sharpened tip or the side of the lead. I was taught to sharpen these with a utility knife, taking off a lot of the wood jacket and leaving a long, gradually pointed lead; this gives me a wide range of mark-making. Touch-up sharpening, which should be done frequently, should be done with fine-grit sandpaper. I have used this pencil on all kinds of paper, but I find it works particularly well on Stonehenge or other finer-grain papers. Don't expect it to erase very well, except for very light lines on very smooth paper. James Lehrer (Los Angeles, USA) on 8 Jan 2014
I use these for life drawing. They really have added to my work already after only 2 sessions Robert Weir (Dumfries, United Kingdom) on 9 Jul 2014
