Winsor & Newton Sansodor

A low odour solvent which evaporates slowly, increases blending time and is suitable for thinning oil colours and cleaning brushes.

• Suitable for oil & alkyd colour.

• Well suited to artists who prefer to avoid exposure to turpentine.

This product can be shipped outside the UK and is a good alternative to the other flamable solvents.

  • Great product

This product for cleaning brushes and thinning paint but it has another use that I primarily use it for.
I have a set of prismacolur pencils the wax based kind not watercolour, this liquid can be used with blending stumps to blend colours together to give drawings more depth. I think it works because it kind of melts the wax to enable this process. In America they use an alternative product that works the same way. Tutorials can be found on how to blend using this product on you tube. Beverleigh10 (England) on 25 Apr 2013

  • Really is odourless - Sansodor 500ml

I've used Loxley low-odour (smells a bit) and Jackson's low odour (smells awful! Gives me asthma) thinner - the W&N Sansodor really is the best, no smell at all so I can forgive them for not being able to spell odour. Charmian Hayes (Milton Keynes, United Kingdom) on 12 Jun 2013

  • Good alternative to turpentine - Sansodor 1Ltr Tin

As an asthmatic, I find turpentine to be too harsh on my lungs and oil of spike lavender to be even worse. I'd had a small bottle of this kicking around my studio for years but never opened it. In desperation, I gave it a try. At first, I thought that turps gave a far fresher result as far as colour was concerned, but now I've used this and the paintings have dried, I can see that the results are very close. Close enough for me to choose this over turps in future and do my lungs a favour. Recommended. Nick (Tameside, United Kingdom) on 31 Aug 2016
