Review this item
  • A great ink medium which is quick and easy to use.

I often draw outside in ink. However, carrying traditional bottled inks about can be a bit of pain if not an accident waiting to happen. Over the last six months I have been increasingly using these Promarker's as they are easy to carry and use. The two different nip thicknesses on each pen is a handy innovation (although I prefer the thicker end), but their key feature is that there is no bleed between pens. As such you can over draw almost immediately in another colour (even a lighter colour, such as yellow on blue) and not ruin the nip of the second pen (unlike felt-tips). Overdrawing will mix colours on the paper and sometimes leave interesting effects depending on the pen / colour. These Neutral Tones are particularly useful for creating depth on drawings. The only question I still have against this product relates to how long the pens last - I have purchased quite a few from a selection of retailers and sometimes I have a pen that dry's up very quickly (but this may be the occasional dud), although none have yet come from KB. I have also found that the blending pens that you can buy for these sets don't really work. Otherwise, I have really enjoyed using the Promarker range!
