Heavy Body Artist Colour, previously referred to as High Viscosity, has a thick consistency for traditional art techniques using brushes or knives, as well as for experimental, mixed media, collage and printmaking applications. Impasto applications retain crisp brush stroke and knife marks. Good surface drag provides excellent handling and blending characteristics with increased open-working time. High pigment load produces rich, brilliant, permanent colour.
• Exceptionally smooth, thick buttery consistency
• Retains brush strokes and palette knife marks
• Great for thick/impasto applications and painting techniques
• Flexible when dry; thick films remain free of cracks and chips
Soap and water cleans equipment. Full colour range available in 59ml tubes, Titanium White and Ivory Black also available in larger 138ml and 207ml tubes.
Cadmium is essential in the artists' palette. It's the pigment that gives vibrancy, colour strength and opacity to your art. Or so we thought.
Recently cadmium in paint has been called into question. Some say cadmium risks your health, others say non-cadmium risks quality. If there's one thing you need to be able to rely on as an artist it's your tools.
So Liquitex set themselves a challenge: Find a solution that means artists don't have to worry about choosing between their health and their art. Some say it isn't possible, but Liquitex have done it. Liquitex Heavy Body Cadmium Free performs as brilliantly as cadmium paint. The only difference: it's safer for you.
But what matters is what you think. Can you tell the difference?
Available in 59ml Heavy Body tubes in 7 different colours.
I have some slight experience of using acrylic paints from when I was an art teacher, but these Liquitex are the first acrylics I have owned for my own personal use - and I think they are great. They maintain colour vibrancy and don't become dull when watered down. This recent purhase is to replenish my stocks; the first lot have lasted well. I would recommend the box of 12 as a good starter pack and then you can select more as you go along. My only problem has been getting used to the names of the colours, which are not necessarily what I am used to: there is no Yellow Ochre for example, but there are similar colours. So don't let that put you off; this is a good buy. Linda C (Liverpool, United Kingdom) on 15 Nov 2012

I love liquitex, sure it's a little pricey but the effects are worth it in the end. Amazing colour and great texture :) the only complaint I have is that I want bigger tubes instead of little 59 ml tubes they should have 250ml and 500ml options... (can't have to much of something this awesome lol ) :) Jodeen Betton (Haltwhistle, United Kingdom) on 28 Jan 2013

These are superb colours with great density and coverage. A personal favourite is the Green Gold which can provide a range of hues from a beautiful golden yellow to a dark green. George Boyce (Monmouth, United Kingdom) on 5 Jul 2013
