Gamblin Gamsol Odourless Mineral Spirit is the safest, 100% pure odourless mineral spirit available. It allows artists to enjoy traditional oil painting techniques without worrying about the safety of solvents in their workspace. Gamsol is much safer than solvents - it is a petroleum distillate in which all the aromatic solvents have been refined out. Gamsol has a wide variety of applications:
- Use it to thin your oil colours. Stiff colours will relax immediately with a little Gamsol. Do not thin colours too much as it will compromise the ability of the paint to form a paint film. It can also be used to modify Gamblin Relief Printmaking Inks.
- Modify and thin oil painting mediums. Gamsol should not be added to mediums made with natural resins (dammar, copal, mastic) as they require stronger solvents like Turpentine.
- Clean up your materials, like brushes and palette knives, that have been used with oil-based paints.
