Derwent Graphitint Travel Paint Pan Set

Brand: Derwent

The Derwent Graphitint Paint Pan Set includes 12 pans of water-soluble paint made from a unique blend of graphite with colour. The colours included in this set are Port, Juniper, Aubergine, Dark Indigo, Steel Blue, Ocean Blue, Slate Green, Green Grey, Meadow, Russet, Autumn Brown, Graphite Grey.

Graphitint colours create subtle muted tones with a graphite sheen. Apply these paints on NOT (Cold Pressed) watercolour paper to bring out beautiful granulation and passages of tone and colour. The fine graphite particles in the paint will settle into the paper grain - a texture that can be used to capture a myriad of effects. This colour palette is ideal for painting urban and natural landscapes, or expressive art. They are mixable with other Derwent paints, pencils and blocks.

This set comes in small, durable plastic case - ideally sized for travel - and includes a mini waterbrush, a sponge and five mixing palettes.

The paints are superb & great for what I purchased them for. The size & the water filled brush make them useful for out & about

  • Can get some interesting effects, especially combined with other paints.

Not quite as metallic as I would have liked, but gives a nice grainy texture when used with plenty of water. Watercolourists should be aware that these paints are opaque, though some rich colours can be made in combination with gouache and so it doesn't matter about being opaque then. The moody graphite colours certainly would suit subjects like the lovely Lake District!
