Daler Rowney Bristol Board Pad

This is the best paper in my case for graphite pencil drawings. It can take alot of pencil layers and because its so smooth you can blend in your work easily, and it doesn't fray with any rubbings out. It also gives your work a great realistic appereance.

I was recommended to try this type of sketching paper as an alternative to normal sketching paper due to its thickness and ability to take watercolour washes for line and wash exercises. It's fine but works differently due to the clay coating on the surface so paint does not dry as fast and dry brush is impossible as there's no tooth. It produces a graphic quality and very transparent washes, needs practice and patience!

I've just started detailed pencil drawing and this is ideal - very forgiving and a great smooth surface
