The Da Vinci Casaneo Series 5597 Slanted brush is made from synthetic Kazan Squirrel hair fibres that are designed for use with watercolour and fluid acrylic paint. These brushes have short, black lacquered, hexagonal handles finished with a silver colour ferrule. These brushes are suitable for vegan artists and those looking for animal-friendly brushes as they are 100% synthetic.
Da Vinci Casaneo brushes have soft synthetic fibres that have been manufactured to mimic the elasticity and colour carrying capabilities of natural squirrel hair. The Series 5597 Slanted Brush has been shaped to give artists a brush with a wide belly that provides longer lasting colour. Using the tip of the brush can be used to create fine details, while angling or increasing the pressure will allow you to widen or narrow the stroke.

I can't believe how great these are. They hold a point to do fine detail but there is a huge belly on them to deliver huge amounts of paint. The big advantage is exalty this, to get a brush of this size that can do controlled fine detail normally costs you a lot if you go sable. It's strange how instantly natural it felt to use with its dagger shape. Especially when I'm used to sable rounds. I think I prefer to paint with this now as it ticks every box apart from it being softer so you don't get the brush bouncing back to straight when lifted off the paper. But Its not a big difference, it goes back straight enough to not cause any problems and on top of that it always keeps a fine point even if it's not totally straight. Also if you want to loosen up your style these brushes will help as they offer a wider more expressive range of brush marks. Wow I had a lot to say about a paint brush!
