Winsor & Newton's Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour has been specifically developed to appear and work just like conventional oil colour. Like traditional oil colour, ArtisanWater Mixable Oil Colour is made from linseed oil and safflower oil.The only difference is the linseed oil and safflower oil used in Artisan have been modified so that they will mix and clean up with water. Artisan has been specifically developed to appear and work just like conventional oil colour. The depth of colour, buttery consistency, lightfastness, opacity/transparency, performance and drying times of Artisan, allow artists to use this range for all oil colour techniques.

Now living in a smaller house with small rooms, normal oils and their mediums are just too odourous for me. With Artisan water mixable oil paints, which feel and act like normal Windsor and Newton oils, it is possible for me to use oil paints without filling the house with the smell of an oil painting drying. It's a real boon to be able to use my favourite oil paints again, instead of putting up with coloured pencils, watercolour, gouache or acrylic. I can and do use those mediums, but these Artisan Oil paints are an excellent replacement for my preferred oil paints. The selection in this box is wide enough to allow colour mixing to obtain, say, purple, light green, pink and any other colour the artist is most likely to need. The quality is fully comparable to standard Windsor and Newton oil paints, just water mixable. And cleaning up brushes and palette is a breeze! Catherine Smith (FALKIRK, United Kingdom) on 9 Oct 2016
I got these oils so that I wouldn't be getting messy, but these are astounding, they pretty much work the same way only u can wash everything in water rather than turps etcetera. Outstanding service by Ken Bromley, will use and recommend to all. Speedy delivery many thanks Nadine Fernie (GLASGOW, United Kingdom) on 25 Apr 2015
I am still getting used to these paints - they do dry slowly and seem 'sticky' David Dennis (Bexhill-on-sea, United Kingdom) on 18 Dec 2015
