Acrylic brushes tend to be made from a durable synthetic hair. The synthetic hair is softer than the natural bristle often used in oil painting. A general rule of thumb is, the thicker the paint, the stiffer the brush you need.
Acrylic brushes come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the most popular are round, long flat, short flat and filbert, which are like flat brushes, but have a 'rounded' end.
When starting out, you will need a variety of brushes, and a set is often a good place to start. We have a selection of sets to get you started and when you work out which shapes and sizes you like, you can add to your collection with individual brushes.
