In this fascinating film Karen shows us that it is not as difficult as we may think. Using oils, pastel and charcoal she demonstrates her unique "1,2,3" method of portrait painting. As well as taking us through a complete portrait from posing the model to signing the canvas, Karen tackles the individual features of the face in different adults and children.

Karen Simmons who sadly died in the autumn of 1996, was trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She was a highly successful painter, author and tutor, she exhibited widely and her paintings are in collections all over the world.
